Supporting People is a nationally funded social housing project, which is delivered at a local level through partnerships between the local authority and local housing providers. Liverpool City Council has provided exceptional services through the Supporting People programme and achieved excellent improvements in sharing of good practice and raising standards over a three-year period.
Liverpool City Council commissioned GovEd to produce a documentary film to celebrate the successes and to share their good practice with other local authorities and stakeholders across the country. The film involved interviews with a wide range of service users and service providers across the Supporting People programme in Liverpool, and told stories of how some of the service users' lives have been dramatically transformed as a direct result of the programme.
The film also provides insight into the particular way in which Liverpool City Council have set up an effective framework to encourage and enable providers to improve their standards and quality of services for all who pass through their doors.
The film was used as the centrepiece of a major Supporting People event in Liverpool, and has subsequently been disseminated to wider groups of stakeholders.
